Tempers flared when two drivers met on the Karak Expressway on Sunday (April 7, 2024), resulting in a dramatic accident that left a driver and passenger with minor injuries. The incident, which was recorded on video, has since gone viral on social media and attracted plenty of comments.

According to Bentong district police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar, the incident occurred at KM49.4 of the highway (Kuala Lumpur-bound) at around 10.15am. In the video, a Proton Waja is seen driving along the highway before making a lane change to the right and inadvertently impeded a Honda City.

The driver of the City then pulled alongside the Waja before overtaking it in what appears to be a dangerous manner. Presumably annoyed, the driver of the Waja then chased after and hit the left side of the City. Both cars met with each other again in a corner, with the City pushing the Waja, which swerved and hit the Honda again before the driver lost control and verered off into a drain and flipping his vehicle.

Zaiham revealed the driver of the Waja was a 56-year-old man who was with his 25-year-old son, while the City was driven by a 34-year-old man. “Prior to the accident, both cars were reportedly driving recklessly, tailgating, and provoking each other due to dissatisfaction with each other’s driving,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. In his statement, Zaiham reminded motorists to understand and practice ethical driving to prevent accidents that can claim lives.
