Belagavi: Muzrai minister Ramalinga Reddy instructed the Shri Renuka Yellamma Trust Committee of Savadatti to prepare a masterplan for the overall infrastructure development in 87 acres of land belonging to the temple.
He visited the Renuka Yellamma temple at Savadatti on Monday. “We have planned the development of 87 acres of land surrounding the temple.Shortly, an expert architect from Bengaluru will arrive at Savadatti to prepare the plan. The plan will include developing a queue line, building toilets and bathrooms, making drinking water facility, maintaining cleanliness and parking facility,” he said.
According to Reddy, around 1.2 crore devotees visit the temple annually. The temple has a revenue of around Rs 26 crore. “I have instructed to utilise half of the revenue for the maintenance of the temple while the rest for the infrastructure development. Apart from this, the government would release additional funds,” he said.
The minister also highlighted that the tourism department has already taken the infrastructure development works in 900 acres of land, attached to the temple. The master plan of the tourism department includes the construction of 5,000 rooms for the stay of devotees and to develop the area as an international tourism spot. “As far as the muzrai department is concerned, we are taking development works in 87 acres surrounding the temple,” Reddy clarified.
The minister said the tender would be called for the works within the next four months, once the architecture plan is ready. “I have specially instructed the officials to provide water, toilets and shelter to those devotees who stay in queue for four to five hours for the darshan of deity,” he said. MLA Vishwas Vaidya said presently only one door is open for the darshan of deity. “As the number of devotees visiting the temple has increased exponentially, I have suggested opening all four doors and building of two-foot bridges in the premises,” he said.
