Witch-Hunt Case: Woman Killed in Suspected Witch-Hunt Case in West Singhbhum District | Ranchi News
Jamshedpur: An 80-year-old woman was found dead and her 83-year-old husband injured in Maoist-hit Gitiuli village under the Keraikela police station limits in West Singhbhum district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
Police on Monday sent the body for postmortem, said Keraikela police station in-charge Deepak Christian, adding it appeared that Shanti Mundu and her husband Markas Mundu were assaulted with an axe-like weapon.Markas is undergoing treatment at sadar hospital. “Although villagers suspect witch hunt, we have not come across that angle in the preliminary investigation and a probe is underway,” Christian said.
He also said police will try to identify the assailants only after Markas recovers and records his statement about the people who barged into their house. No one has so far been arrested.
