Vijayshankar: Consider Me As Mysuru Ls Candidate: Vijayshankar | Mysuru News

Mysuru: Former MP CH Vijayshankar on Sunday requested BJP leadership to consider him to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Mysuru.
Vijayshankar, who had contested six times previously and won twice, said he had worked to build the party in the rural parts of Mysuru region as a result of which he was elected in 1998 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the prime minister. He was elected in 2004 polls too. Presently, BJP’s Pratap Simmha is representing the segment.
“I was asked by the party top brass to contest from Hassan in 2014, which I lost since I had no political or emotional connection with the constituency,” he said.
“Though I stood a chance to win from the Mysuru, I agreed to contest from Hassan in 2014 following which my political career has taken a hit,” he said.
Mentioning that there were talks within BJP to give prominence to backward communities, Vijayshankar said the party should consider his seniority and experience and provide him with another opportunity to contest the polls. “I am seeking an opportunity as a loyal party worker. However, the party will decide on the candidate,” he added. TNN
