UP: Aryan, Priyam help UP bag three points against Kerala | Lucknow News

Lucknow: In their first match of Ranji Elite group ‘B’, Uttar Pradesh walked off with a draw and three points against hosts Kerala in a tough contest at SD College Ground in Alappuzha on Monday.
UP took a 59-run lead in the first innings as they dismissed Kerala for 243 after posting 302. In the second innings, Priyam Garg (106) and Aryan Juyal (115) hammered a century apiece as UP declared at 323/3, taking an overall lead of 382 runs.In reply, Kerala were 72/2 when the match was called off. In UP’s second innings, Aryan Juyal smashed 115 runs off 195 deliveries with seven boundaries and four sixers after Samarth Singh (43) was taken leg before wicket by Jalaj Saxena when the team were standing on 89-1.
Opening batter Priyam Garg played a brilliant knock of 106 runs off 205 deliveries with eight boundaries and one six. The biggest 131-run partnership off 232 balls was between Priyam Garg and Aryan Juyal. Aryan was finally dismissed (lbw) to Basil Thampi but UP by then were well placed at 220-2 in 64.6 overs. Finally, UP declared the innings at 323.
In reply, Kerala right hand batter Krishna Prasad was out without opening his account in second innings losing the wicket to Saurabh Kumar. Right hand batter Rohan Kunnummal smashed 42 runs off 64 deliveries. Rohan Prem (29) and Sachin Baby (1) remained unbeaten as Kerala managed to hold on to a draw, reaching 72/2 by the time the match came to an end. UP pacer Ankit Rajpoot was brilliant in the first innings, as he took five wickets at the loss of 64 runs and was named player of the match. UP will face Bengal in the second match on home turf at Green Park stadium, Kanpur from January 12.
