Tutor Tries To Extort 1.5l From Student’s Mother, Held | Noida News
Noida: A probe into a series of extortion calls led police to the tutor of a school student, who allegedly called up her mother and threatened to kill the teenager if she did not pay him Rs 1.5 lakh. After the woman approached police, the tutor was arrested on Monday, and a preliminary probe revealed that he had been calling her from another number.
The accused, Rajan Kumar, is a native of Siwan district in Bihar who currently resides in Garhi Chaukhandi village, GB Nagar.Four or five months back, he opened a coaching centre in the village where he taught 20-30 school children, said a senior police official.
The complainant approached the Phase-3 police on Saturday and shared messages from an unknown number that asked her to pay Rs 1.5 lakh or risk the safety of her 10-year-old daughter.
She shared screenshots of the messages, which read, “Do you love your money or your daughter”, “You do not know me”, and “Bring the money where I tell you to…or forget your daughter”.
Officials filed a case and deployed a search team to find the suspect. Police found that the number belonged to Kumar, who had been teaching the complainant’s daughter for the last two or three months. “The suspect had used an unknown number to avoid being caught. He allegedly wanted the money for his expenses,” said the police official.
