Tangle Teeze owner seeks funding or sale advice
Haircare brand Tangle Teezer could be looking for fresh financial backers or a new owner. Current brand owner Mayfair Equity Partners has hired investment banker Harris Williams to oversee a strategic review of the company.
Sky News reported the move that it said comes as Tangle Teezer is enjoying strong product sales, especially in the US market. It has seen rapid growth with good demand across both the professional salon sector and retail consumer sectors, the report said.
People close to the situation said that a number of options were under review and that there was no formal timetable for a potential sale process.
Mayfair Equity first invested in Tangle Teezer in July 2021 to help support the company’s international growth.
Launched in 2007 by former hair colourist Shaun Pulfrey, Tangle Teezer makes a range of detangling, blow-drying and styling hairbrushes known for their distinctive look. The company now holds over 60 patents for brushes globally and has a presence in 75 countries.
The business is currently run by James Vowles, who joined as commercial director in 2017 before taking the chief executive role in 2021.
Mayfair Equity has so far declined to comment, the report said.
