Sojo and Vestiaire Collective launch pre-owned repair and tailoring service

Repair specialist Sojo and resale giant Vestiaire Collective have spent the past few years forging multiple partnerships. Now the UK firm and the French e-tailer are linking up with each other to give Vestiaire customers access to tailoring and repairs services from “expert tailors”, as well as Sojo’s zero emissions collection and home delivery service.

The new offer launches first in the UK with further expansion planned.

Sojo’s founder Josephine Philips said the partnership links back to the founding principles of her company with the avid lover of vintage and secondhand clothing have continually found herself falling for pre-loved pieces that weren’t in her size but with no easy way for her to get the pieces tailored.

And for Vestiaire Collective, it also represents an opportunity with 65% of its returns being down to fit with sizing, understandably, a common issue when buying pre-owned pieces. It also makes it the first luxury retail platform to offer a digital tailoring service to its customers.

The companies said their partnership should “offer customers the opportunity to shop pre-loved in a more expansive way, safe in the knowledge that they can quickly and easily make any adjustments they may need”.

The service is also available to sellers, “meaning they are able to make any necessary repairs and potentially increase the sale value of a piece, as well being able to list more pieces by fulfilling Vestiaire’s eligibility criteria (no tears, no holes etc)”.

So how will it work? Once a customer has received their purchase they’re able to book the alteration they need and organise a Sojo item collection, the piece will then be worked on at its in-house repair studios before being delivered directly back to the customer.
