Puthige Seer: Puthige Seer’s Fourth Paryaya On Jan 18 | Mangaluru News
Mangaluru: Sri Sugunendra Thirtha swamiji of Udupi Sri Puthige Mutt has initiated the ‘Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna’ as part of his fourth Paryaya that commences from January 18, 2024 to January 17, 2026.
The seer, who will ascend the Paryaya Peeta at Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt on January 18, told reporters on the sidelines of a ‘Guruvandana Tulabhara’ offered to him here on Saturday, that it is planned to offer one crore handwritten Bhagavad Gitas to Udupi Sri Krishna through Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna.He declared his fourth Paryaya as ‘Vishwa Gita Paryaya’ to worship and adore Lord through the Bhagavad Gita itself.
“Devotees may participate in the Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna by collecting Bhagavad Gita and notebooks from the mutt. Later, they must write the slokas of the Bhagavad Gita, and the handwritten copies should be submitted or sent to the mutt before January 17, 2026. We have plans to make one crore devotees participate in the yajna,” said the seer, who had earlier conducted Laksha Gita Lekhana Yajna during his second Paryaya.
The seer said he has also decided to offer a ‘Parthasarathi Suvarna Ratha’ (golden chariot) as a token of his gratitude to Sri Krishna, to mark the completion of his 50 years of sanyasa life. He will launch ‘Akhanda Gita Parayana’ (dawn-to-dusk Gita chanting) every day by devotees continuously for two years of his Paryaya period. Similarly, he will also be offering unique Bhagavad Gita Maha Yaga along with organising international Gita conference. Programmes like discourses, competitions, debates and camps are organised on Gita throughout the Paryaya. A ‘Swagatham Krishna’ mahadwara (entrance) will be created with the idol of Sri Madhwacharya carrying Krishna at Kalsanka, he said.
Paryaya Mahotsava
The Paryaya Mahotsava rituals of the Puthige seer will commence with puja, prayers and commencement of procession from Jodukatte at 2.15am on January 18. The procession will reach the Car Street of the Sri Krishna Mutt at 4.30am. Thereafter, the seer will have darshan of Lord Sri Krishna through ‘Kanakana Kindi’, offer prayers at Chandra Mouleeshwara and Anantheshwara Temple, enter Sri Krishna Mutt, have darshan of the Sri Krishna deity as well as Mukhya Prana and Sri Madhwacharya.
At 5.50am, the seer will ascend the holy ‘Sarvajna Peetha’ of Sri Madhwacharya after ‘Akshaya Paatra Sweekara’. A Prabhata Paryaya Durbar will be held as part of the Paryaya Mahotsava at Sri Upendra Thirtha Vedike, Rajangana, at 6.30am, in the presence of seers and dignitaries. A Sandhya Paryaya Durbar will be held at 4.30pm. A rathotsava and teppotsava will be held at 8pm on January 19.
