Princess Eugenie Shares Health Update on King Charles III Amid His Cancer Battle

Princess Eugenie is sharing a health update regarding her uncle, King Charles III, amid his cancer battle.

The 33-year-old princess spoke with reporters at an event benefitting the Elephant Family charity on Thursday, and she was asked how Charles is doing following news of his cancer diagnosis in February.

“He’s doing well,” Eugenie shared with a smile.

The royal — who is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson — added that Charles would “also be very proud today because the Elephant Family is very close to his heart, too.”

The organization — which aims to protect the Asian elephant from extinction in the wild — was founded by Queen Camilla’s late brother, Mark Shand.

Charles revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer on Feb. 5. Buckingham Palace announced that the diagnosis came following an unrelated procedure for an enlarged prostate. The Palace has not clarified what kind of cancer Charles has or what stage.

In the weeks that followed the news, the king took a step back from royal duties and spent time at his country home while he received treatment. Amid his treatments, Camilla has taken on additional responsibilities and royal duties.

In late February, Charles took to social media to share a video of some of the letters and written well-wishes he’s received since sharing the news of his illness.

“The King has had a chance to read a wide selection of the thousands of Get Well cards and letters that have been sent to Buckingham Palace since his diagnosis.  🖋️ Thank you to all those who have written in,” the caption read.

In the clip, the king also read numerous cards (some funny and some sentimental).

“Following the announcement of The King’s diagnosis the correspondence team at Buckingham Palace has received more than 7,000 letters and cards from across the world. The king has been sent a selection in his daily red box of paperwork,” the caption over the video of the letters read. “Many share their own experiences with cancer. Others offer good wishes and advice for a speedy recovery. To everyone who took the time to write Thank you. As his majesty has said ‘such thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.'”
