Primark is back as principal partner, official outfitter to Soccer Aid for UNICEF

In a bid to fundraise at least £400,000 for the charity this year, Primark is returning as principal partner and official outfitter to Soccer Aid for UNICEF.

For the fifth year running, the fashion and lifestyle retail giant will act as official ‘outfitter to the stars’ in the biggest charity football match in the UK. This year’s event is taking place at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge ground on 9 June, broadcast live on ITV1, STV and ITVX.

Throughout May and June, Primark staff across the UK will be supporting fundraising efforts, taking part in the ‘journey of the match ball’ — a project whereby the three match-day footballs will travel from John O’Groats to Land’s End, passing through every Primark store along the way, before making their way to Stamford Bridge in time for kick off.

Some stores will also be hosting their own events including football matches and pub quizzes, while customers can get involved through donating at the tills.

The celebrity and pro-footballer line-up will have their choice of the latest suiting range from Primark brand ambassador and Soccer Aid for UNICEF top goal scorer Kem Cetinay.

They include team captains Jill Scott and Usain Bolt, returners Tommy Fury and Tom Grennan and new faces Sam Thompson, Sam Quek and Diamond.

The six-piece collection of navy and grey suits will also be available in selected Primark UK stores from 10 June. In addition to the store fundraising efforts, £50,000 from sales of this year’s range will also be donated to the event.

The latest financial target will add to the £1.2 million raised since the partnership began, it noted.
