Pedestrian, motorcyclist die in road accident near Coimbatore | Coimbatore News

COIMBATORE: A motorcycle rider and a pedestrian died on the spot and two others suffered injuries in a road accident at Nanjegoundenpudur in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as G Karthi, 18, from Okkilipalayam near Pollachi and C Vijay, 36, of Mannarkad in Palakkad district of Kerala. Vadakkipalayam police said Karthi was working in a petrol bunk and Vijay was a construction worker.
After completing work, Karthi and his colleague Jothi Krishna, 18, of Okkilipalayam were returning home on a motorcycle on Monday night. Karthi was riding the motorcycle while Jothi Krishna was riding pillion.
Vijay and his friend R Suthish, 30, of Thenkarai near Mannarkkad in Palakkad district, who were construction workers and were staying at a construction site in Nanjegoundenpudur village, were walking to a grocery shop around 8.20pm on Monday.
Karthi lost control over the motorcycle. The motorcycle hist the two pedestrians. Vijay sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. Karthi too sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
Jothi Krishna sustained injuries on his head and legs, and Suthish sustained injuries on his ribs and legs. The duo were sent to Pollachi Government Hospital for treatment. Later, they were shifted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
