One More Worker Injured In Scaffolding Collapse Dies | Noida News
Greater Noida: A worker who suffered grievous injuries when a scaffolding came crashing down at a construction site on the campus of Sharda University died on Monday, taking the toll to two.
The first labourer died on the day of the collapse on Saturday.
At 11.25am on Saturday, nearly 50 labourers were working on the construction of a new building for the cancer department at the Sharda University when a scaffolding collapsed, injuring Mohammad Shamshad, a native of Supaul in Bihar, and Abdul Jabbar Khan from Faridabad. The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment, but Khan succumbed to his injuries shortly after, according to additional DCP Ashok Kumar. Shamshed, too, died at the hospital on Monday.
No other injuries were reported in the incident, said the officer, adding that the families of the deceased have not yet filed a case.
Meanwhile, the university released a statement on Monday, expressing regret at the incident and announcing compensation to the families of both the deceased. They promised a job for one family member of each of the victims.
Dr Ajit Kumar, the director of public relations at the university, said that the management has also constituted a five-member committee to investigate the accident.
“The committee will submit its report in three days,” he added.
