Nike signs deal for major new UK logistics hub at Corby
Nike is huge in the UK but clearly has even bigger ambitions if its latest behind-the-scenes move is any guide. It’s to open a new state-of-the-art UK Logistics Campus and national supply chain hub at Magna Park in Corby, East Midlands.
And its’s going to be massive. Real estate owner/developer GLP said the US sports giant has signed a 20-year lease agreement for the development spanning more than 1.3 million sq ft that will combine logistics warehousing, offices, sport and recreation facilities in a single building.
Given the focus on sustainability, the campus will target a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating and achieve Net Zero Carbon in construction.
Prioritising sport and wellbeing, the new facility in Corby will be underpinned by a range of external features including running tracks, open-air gyms, multi-use game areas and recreation areas.
Magna Park Corby will also benefit from a 5.76km exercise route, a 2km nature trail, and 3.7km of other footpaths. In keeping with the local area, the new campus’ design will also provide access to protected woodlands, with designated cycle and walking routes “that will be fundamental to attracting and retaining talent”.
Bruce Topley, UK Managing Director at GLP said: “This investment is a great vote of confidence in the East Midlands and will help propel much-needed long-term growth across the region.”
