Missing Woman: Missing Woman Feared Murdered by Daughter | Mandya News | Mysuru News
Mandya: A daughter allegedly killed her mother which came to light nearly a year later in Hebbakawadi in Mandya taluk. The deceased has been identified as Sharadamma,50, a resident of Hebbakawadi village.
Police said the incident came to light when they interrogated Sharadamma’s daughter Anusha and son-in-law Devaraj on suspicion. Though the couple allegedly confessed to the crime stating that they had buried the body at a nearby place, the police have failed to locate the body despite searches at various nearby locations.
In November 2022, Sharadamma had visited Anusha’s residence in Harohalli located in Mysuru where she stayed after marriage.The mother and daughter allegedly fought over an issue following which Anusha pushed Sharadamma who fell on the cot and died on the spot, police said. After several days, Sharadamma’s relatives enquired with Anusha who gave lame reasons about her mother going missing. The relatives informed the police about it.
Later, on being forced by her relatives, Anusha lodged a missing complaint with the Varuna police in Mysuru nearly seven months after her mother went missing.
Following the complaint, the police conducted searches at several locations but were not able to find Sharadamma. Later, on suspicion, the police interrogated Anusha and Devaraj during which they spilled the beans, cops said.
Following this, Varuna police transferred the case to Mandya Rural police station since the alleged crime was committed in their jurisdiction. Later, Mandya Rural police took custody of Devaraj and brought him to Hebbakawadi to identify the place where the body was buried. However, they could not find body or skeleton at the locations shown by Devaraj on Sunday.
Mandya SP Yathish said an FIR had been registered at Mandya Rural police station after the case was transferred by Varuna police station. The search operations are being taken up under the supervision of Mandya tahsildar Shivakumar Biradar. Since the police could not find the body, they are expected to continue the search on Monday.

Thane police launch ‘self help desk’ at police stations in Kalyan
Thane Police introduced a ‘Self Help Desk’ at the police station in the Kalyan Division to enhance facilities for complainants. The desk allows individuals to file complaints and access different services. Initially implemented in eight police stations, the plan is to extend the service to cover the entire Thane Commissionerate. As part of the Maharashtra Police Day celebration, the police returned valuables worth Rs 3 crore 16 lakh to victims of theft and burglary. The returned items included gold jewelry, vehicles, mobile phones, cash, and other stolen possessions.
