Leopard Kill: Leopard kill: Nilgiris MP helps girl’s family with last rites | Coimbatore News

Udhagamandalam: The body of a three-year-old girl who was killed by a leopard on Saturday, was handed over to her parents on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Nancy, daughter of Shivashankar and his wife, who are guest workers from Jharkhand. Nancy, was killed in a leopard attack at Perungarai hamlet in Mango range estate area in the Pandalur range of forest, when she was returning home from school.
Her body was embalmed at the Ooty government medical college and hospital before being handed over to her parents. Nilgiris collector M Aruna handed over a sum of 10 lakh as ex-gratia to the girl’s parents. Meanwhile, Nilgiris MP A Raja sponsored the family to take the girl’s body by flight to Jharkhand, for performing the last rites. Shivashankar thanked Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and the Nilgiris MP for their kind gesture and help.tnn

The court observed that Tangedco did not provide safety gear and that the death resulted from negligence. The court also highlighted that Venugopal was a member of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Workers Central Union (CITU) and that the assistant engineer was aware of his death. Despite the police’s failure to register an FIR or investigate, the court directed Tangedco to compensate Sundari.
