King Charles’ Niece Zara Tindall Breaks Royal Protocol During Emotional Reunion
Zara Tindall wasn’t going to let royal protocol stop her from giving her uncle a hug! On Friday, King Charles III and his niece stepped out to attend the Royal Windsor Horse Show in Windsor, Berkshire.
When Zara, who stunned in a gray suit, spotted her uncle, who was dressed in a khaki jacket, she didn’t hesitate to go over and give him a big hug. The royals were spotted smiling and laughing during the sweet moment.
According to Us Weekly, Zara, who’s the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal, and her first husband, Mark Phillips, was overheard saying, “Ah, Uncle Charles!”
The sweet reunion comes amid the king’s battle with cancer. Last month, Buckingham Palace announced that the 75-year-old monarch plans to “return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.”
Shortly thereafter, royal expert Katie Nicholl told ET that the palace’s announcement should lay to rest any speculation that Charles isn’t doing well in the wake of his diagnosis.
“My sources have been telling me that the king has been responding very positively to his medical treatment, that his medical team are very pleased with his progress,” she said. “I think that the news that we hear out of the palace really supports all of that, because he’s coming back to work.”
Being able to get back to his duties, the first of which was a visit to a cancer center, was welcome news for Charles.
“My sources say that probably the most frustrating thing for the king in all of this has been that he hasn’t been able to do the work that he’s wanted to do,” Nicholl said. “… He’s very, very relieved that he’s going to be able to resume that.”
