Ranchi: A 59-year-old athlete of international repute in the masters’ (35 years and above) category, Shanti Mukta Barla, was killed on the spot in a hit-and-run case at Jojodih village along the Ranchi-Jamshedpur national highway under the Tamar police station limits on Monday. Police said Shanti was crossing the road to take her scooter given to a mechanic when a car hit her.The occupants of the car abandoned the vehicle some distance away. The car has been seized and a manhunt launched to apprehend the culprits, police said. tnn
