How Eminence Organics Came To Vancouver, Canada

Eminence Organic Skin Care is based in Vancouver, Canada. Founded with Hungarian traditions in mind, our brand is led by brothers Boldijarre and Attila Koronczay.

Eminence Organics began years ago with the organic ingredients and natural skin care techniques used for generations by Koronczay family estheticians. The defining experience that led Boldijarre and Attila to join their family in the skin care industry was an unlikely one. At the age of four, Boldijarre was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of leukemia and was given a 0.1% chance of survival. His mother and grandmother turned to organic nutrition to help his body heal. Incredibly, Boldijarre made a full recovery and since the brothers have been on a mission to share their appreciation for all things natural and organic.

Years after his recovery, Boldijarre followed in Koronczay family footsteps and became a trained esthetician with a passion for natural and organic ingredients. It was nine years before Eminence Organics took off in North America. Our operations in North America started small, with Boldijarre working at a local spa and sharing the skin care line with his private clients. Word of his organic facials and Hungarian-style massage techniques quickly spread, and he soon had a lengthy waitlist. With his background in engineering and logistics, Attila stepped in to oversee business operations, bringing Eminence Organics products from Hungary to North America. Today, Boldijarre is a spa industry icon with an unparalleled reputation as a Master Esthetician. He has been instrumental of the development of skin care products that have attracted A-list clientele, including Katherine Heigl, Laura Dern and Kristen Bell.

In 1996, with the goal of bringing organic skin care worldwide, he and Attila set their sights on Vancouver, Canada. Boldijarre says: “We particularly chose Vancouver due to the healthy lifestyle that the city could provide, as well as [it being] one of the greenest cities in North America … We were also looking for a place that had a mild climate all year long, due to having natural and heat-sensitive products.”

While first navigating their entry into an international market, the Koronczay brothers worked minimum-wage jobs … Attila remembers: “We dealt with years of rejection while the market wasn’t ready to understand the benefits of organic. Even the spa industry wasn’t interested in organic products … My brother and I shared a sofa bed for almost a decade. But, we shared the same dream and same dedication to our ideas and to each other.”

What Does Organic Skin Care Mean?

Though you may be familiar with the term, you may be in the dark about what exactly organic means. Organic refers to agricultural practices that excludes the use of harmful, synthetic pesticides and fertilizers to maintain soil fertility and to produce higher-quality crops. Organic practices support the health of flora and fauna to protect biodiversity.

Organic practices prohibit:

• Synthetic and/or toxic fertilizers and pesticides
• Genetically modified (GMO) seeds
• Artificial color, flavoring or preservatives
• Hydroponics
• Growth hormones and antibiotics

Instead, organic agriculture relies on:

• Crop rotation
• Green manure rich in nitrogen
• Using beneficial insects or manual techniques to control pests

Where Is The Eminence Organic Farm?

Our award-winning and educational Eminence Certified Organic Farm is located in the Hungarian countryside. At the farm, visitors are transported to a simple way of life as they learn about traditional farming practices that honor our deep Hungarian roots. While exploring the landmark heritage farm, visitors can touch, walk amongst and even taste our collection of organic plants.

Since its inception, the Eminence Certified Organic Farm has been devoted to regenerative farming. We’re proud that we can transform eroded and polluted land into a lush landscape teeming with biodiversity!

Whenever possible, we rely on regenerative agriculture, whether it’s the botanicals we choose for our products or the practices we employ on the Eminence Certified Organic Farm. These techniques result in richer soil, healthier water and increased biodiversity while combating climate change. We’re proud to do our part!

Are Eminence Organics Products Made In Hungary?

Our central office is in Vancouver but we keep close ties to our Hungarian roots. At Eminence Organics, people often ask, “Is Eminence Organics really made in Hungary?” All of our products are, in fact, formulated in Hungary, where the majority are also manufactured then sent to Canada for hand pouring. Although a variety of our natural, organic and Biodynamic ingredients are globally sourced, the majority are still grown in Hungary.

What is Forests for the Future™?

Forests for the Future is our in-house charitable initiative focused on improving the environment. In partnership with Trees for the Future, Eminence Organics plants a tree for every retail product sold. As of 2024, we have planted 25 million trees in communities that need them most.

This program also trains farmers in the communities that we’ve served, giving them the tools they need to establish a reliable food source and increase their income. To increase regenerative agricultural practices worldwide, we train them to introduce forest gardens – an agricultural method that mimics natural biodiversity – to their farms. Together, we’ve been able to help communities in Kenya, Senegal, Guinea and beyond.
