‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2: HBO Drops New Trailer

Get ready to return to Westeros. As House of the Dragon gears up for its long-awaited second season, a fiery new trailer for the HBO series dropped on Thursday.

War is on the horizon in what is being dubbed “the Green trailer” in a nod to the battle between the Black Council and the Green Council.

“There are two sides to every story,” says Tom Glynn Carney in an introductory video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Watch both and choose a side,” Emma D’Arcy concludes.

The teaser comes just one day after the network unveiled a collection of character art teasing the tagline “All Must Choose.” In the shots, each of the key players in the Targaryens’ battle for the Iron Throne gazes ominously toward each other.

House of the Dragon‘s first season ended with dramatic flair, as alliances were forged in the battle between the Black Council — those supporting Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne — and Green Council — the conspirators who aided Aegon’s ascension after the death of King Viserys (played by Paddy Considine, who will surely be missed). The Game of Thrones prequel is based on George R.R. Martin’s novel, Fire & Blood, which is a history book recounting notable events in Westeros in the 200 years before the original series.

HOTD will continue to explore the in-fighting and intrigue surrounding House Targaryen.

The show is set to return in June, nearly two years after the first season aired. Returning players include Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) and his niece-turned-now-wife Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke), her father, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), her children, Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Helaena (Phia Saban), and her loyal servant, Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel). Princess Rhaenys (Eve Best) and Corlys aka the Sea Snake (Steve Toussaint) will also be back.

Additional actors joining the series are Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull.

In equally important fashion, showrunner Ryan Condal told The Hollywood Reporter last year that viewers will “meet five new dragons” this season.

Back in December, fans were treated to the first look at the upcoming episodes.

“There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin,” Rhaenys said in the first trailer. “And no war so bloody as a war between dragons.”
