Gym+Coffee hits Irish milestone as expansion drive continues

Laying claim to being an “Irish success story”, Gym+Coffee (G+C) has certainly delivered the right numbers to back it up. The sportswear retailer says it has just hit a major milestone, welcoming its one-millionth customer in Ireland.

It’s also forging wholesale deals with major UK names, as well as for Asia and Middle Eastern countries.

Having launched just just seven years ago, it now claims to have sold two million items in its native country alone. And it’s seeing 20% year-on-year online growth in the UK, operating seven physical retail locations in Ireland and the UK, and serving customers in more than 80 countries.

For good measure, annual turnover is now over €20m and its “boasts high-profile shareholders in pop star Niall Horan, and rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll”.

While G+C hoodies are its “most recognisable product” the brand also retails over 300 other items ranging from leggings to T-shirts, fleeces and shorts.

The retailer is kicking off a massive ‘Thank You Week’ until 2 April,  offering “surprises, discounts, gifts and special offers to their customers online and in store”.

Also for 2024, G+C said it has struck a new partnership with Lifestyle Sports where its products are now available for sale in Lifestyle stores and online.

And its second annual ‘Make Life Richer Awards’ campaign kicks off this month. Later this summer, it celebrates two brand ambassadors going to the Olympics with Kellie Harrington and Rhys McCleneghan representing Ireland in Paris.

CEO and co-founder Niall Horgan said: “It’s been amazing to scale the business to where we are in Ireland but our ambition is to replicate that across the world. While the UK was initially a more challenging market to enter, we’re now seeing really positive signs with the online side of Gym+Coffee.

“We also introduced our wholesale channel last year and within nine months have added over 35 wholesale partners across the UK including some big name brand partners like Very, Debenhams and Next. We also are just finalising our first deals with distribution partners in Asia and the Middle East”.
