‘Gubbins’, ‘Genshin Impact’, ‘Disney Magic Kingdoms’, and More – TouchArcade
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Saint Patrick’s Day may be in the rear-view mirror for us now, but last week still had a few updates rushing in the door at the last minute. We’ve got an assortment of other updates too, though. It’s a good mix, all-up. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Hello Kitty Island Adventure,
Okay, this is a one-week only event that is already three days into its run, so if you want to get in on the Hello Kitty International Day of Happiness event you’d best get your boots on. Kitty’s got a surprise recipe you can share, and there are plenty of presents coming your way for joining in on the event. There are also the new Colorblaze Challenges, where Pochacco tasks you with completing some fresh new courses. Naturally, you’ll get some nice goodies for doing so in the form of new furniture and outfits. Well, get in there.
Royal Match, Free
I’m getting the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update out of the way quickly today. One hundred new levels, and this time the theme is something to do with picnics. What harm could possibly befall King Robert on a picnic? I’m sure he’ll be fine this time. Just be careful, there are some new puzzle elements to deal with. Logs and spikes, by the looks of it. Wait. Logs and spikes? On a picnic? Ugh. Forget it, King Robert is probably already dead.
World of Tanks Blitz – Mobile, Free
Hm, this might have been a little more than seven days ago, but I can’t get caught up in semantics at this point. The Xenobarrier event is ongoing, and that means you can score some nice rewards by winning. I mean, more than usual. There’s also the Turning the Tide event where you need to fend off endless waves of enemies for as long as you can, plus a couple of Operations where you can pick up some new camo. The update is rounded out with some visual improvements here and there, which is always lovely when it happens.
Genshin Impact – V4.5, Free
New update time for Genshin Impact again already. It feels like the last one was just yesterday. Time is weird. Anyway, this one is called Blades Weaving Betwixt Brocade, and… that is something. New character Chiori joins, bringing with her a number of new events, wishes, stories, and weapons. Naturally, there are also some new character and action cards for the Genius Invokation TCG. I’m still boggling at that title. Brocade? Surely they don’t mean an arcade for Bros? But… maybe?
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free
What popular Disney characters are joining the Magic Kingdoms this time? Oh… oh no. I wasn’t ready for this. I mean, I should have been, but… yes, I suppose the gang from Ice Age are indeed Disney characters now. Denis Leary is a Disney Princess. Anyway, Manny, Sid, and the rest of the gang are coming, and that means you can now have Scrat in your park. There are two new attractions, two new concessions, and two new decorations, plus an Ice Age parade float. Somehow this is weirder for me than Star Wars characters being in Disney stuff. I’m sure I’ll get over it. Someday.
Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat,
It’s a new version of Taiko no Tatsujin: Pop Tap Beat, and that means we’ve got a bunch of new songs to play. Which songs? Well, the main ones likely to be of interest to Western players are the theme song for Godzilla (Godzilla – Main Title) and Funiculi Funicula (pretty sure this is the “Pizza Song” from Spider-Man 2: The Movie The Video Game). You also get the Detective Conan/Case Closed Main Theme, Toccata and Fugue and Rock, Symphony No. 5, SHUNYUU, Samba Alegria, and Maelstrom. Since this has that song from the awesome Spider-Man 2 game, I’m giving it the coveted UMMSotW award for this week.
Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom,
Watch out, Hello Kitty. Tamagotchi is hungry and is not resting on its laurels. There’s a new location to explore in this version, the Antique Town. You also get a new collection to… collect, a bunch of new quests both in the new location and in other places, some cool new accessories and decorations, and some new trials to complete. There are also some improvements to the UI and a whole bunch of bug fixes. I kind of dig the vibes of this game, even if I prefer Hello Kitty Island Adventure overall. I can enjoy both! You can too!
MARVEL SNAP, Free
Somehow we got two updates in two weeks for Marvel Snap, and this last one actually brought in some cool new features along with the usual balance changes. You can now customize your cards with the border and background effect of your choice, and it’s easy to see which cards have been discarded or destroyed during matches. They also added some new Gold Pass that gives you Gold every day for a month, in case you want to throw your cash around like some kind of fancy lad or lass. Thanos also got a little kick in his purple booty, which you love to see.
GUBBINS — It’s a word game, Free
The adorable and charming word game gets a spiffy new update that brings in some new intergalactic buddies to play with. The UFO, Planet, Black Hole, Meteor, and Constellation are pleased to make your acquaintance and are prepared for some shenanigans. There are also some fun new hidden messages to find, some new bundles and packs to pick up and put in your pack, and a number of little improvements here and there to make playing even more fun.
Adventure To Fate Lost Island, $4.99
This game just came out, I’m still penning my review of it because I’m a slowpoke, and here’s a major update already. There are some new unlockable races in the form of the Vampire, the Draco, and the Moon Elf. Hate the Draco! Some updates have been made to the jungle area to make it a little more manageable, and a whole bunch of changes have been made to the VoiceOver support to make it more intuitive to play with. What a cool dev TouchMint is. I really need to finish up my review of this already instead of faffing around with Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties. Never getting that hour back. I could have been eating Popsicles or something instead. Sigh. This game rules, buy it. That’s not my Review, but it is my review.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
