Fire Destroys Godown: Fire destroys godown in Mangaluru’s Baikampady industrial area | Mangaluru News



Mangaluru: A fire erupted at a godown in the Baikampady industrial area during the early hours of Tuesday, causing damage to stored items such as candles, sanitisers, and body sprays.
CR Ranganath, regional fire officer of Mangaluru range told TOI that the incident was reported at Primacy Industries at 12.50am in a (25X 10) godown (old candle shed), containing hand sanitisers, candles, and body sprays.Immediately, fire tenders from Kadri and Pandeshwar fire stations rushed to the spot and were supported by MCF and New Mangalore Port Authority fire tenders. The firefighting efforts lasted approximately five hours before successfully extinguishing the flames.
The situation is now under control. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but preliminary investigations suggest an estimated loss of around Rs 20 lakh, he said.
In January 2013, the entire production facility of Primacy Industries, one of the largest manufacturers of scented candles in the world at Baikampady industrial area, was gutted in a blaze. The loss then was estimated at Rs 50 crore. A year later, the rebuilt facility was inaugurated, although production had commenced in June 2013.
