Surat: Ankleshwar GIDC police of Bharuch district have arrested three trustees of Masjid Madrassa Trust of Kosamdi village for allegedly creating a fake letter of Gujarat State Wakf Board for leasing out the trust land. The three arrested are Yakub Nadhala (66), Basir Patel (56) and Yusuf Nandhla (63).
The three were arrested on Thursday night. They had allegedly created a fake permission letter of the year 2015 of the Wakf Board and submitted it at Ankleshwar sub-registrar’s office.Three other accused in the case are yet to be arrested.
According to police, in February 2023, trustee Yakub went to Ankleshwar sub-registrar’s office to register a lease agreement with Dharmik Godhani. He produced a letter of the Wakf board permitting their trust to lease the land of survey number 809 of Kosamdi village in Ankleshwar taluka. Along with the letter, Yakub produced the trust’s resolution signed by Basir Patel, Ismalil Bhagat, Hasim Mehta and Yusuf Nandhla. After submitting the documents, Yakub and Godhani produced their identity and made an agreement in the presence of witnesses.
However, on November 3, 2023, the Wakf board wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Registration in Gandhinagar that it had not issued any such letter. It said the letter had forged and the intention was to encroach upon the land
Police booked six accused under Sections 465, 467, 468, 120B of IPC and Section 82 (A to D) of the Registration Act.
