Cyber Crime Awareness Event: 70k People Attend Online Cyber Crime Awareness Event In Fatehpur | Allahabad News
Prayagraj: In a first, the officials of the Prayagraj zone police organised an online mass awareness event in Fatehpur district. Around 70,000 people including students of colleges and schools, farmers, women, youths, traders, government and private employees and officials attended the event through online mode at 50 different locations.
The Fatehpur police with the help of noted cyber expert Rakshit Tandon connected people through zoom app and Facebook via big screens and projectors at 50 different spots.Offering important tips to masses, cyber expert advised people not to share details of their accounts, don’t open unknown links, and use social media platforms carefully. Additional DG ( Prayagraj zone) Bhanu Bhaskar said, “Cops are taking up a series of awareness campaign in small districts of the Prayagraj zone after acknowledging the fact that cyber fraudsters were cheating gullible rural folks”
In the event people were also briefed about 1930 (National Cyber crime reporting portal) or 112 and register their complaint with police station concerned. However, police officials are now focusing on halting the transfer of stolen amounts so that they could be reverted to complainants rather than ending up with fraudsters. The usual modus operandi of criminals is to bait unsuspecting account holders on the pretext of either correcting electricity bills online, or sending fake SMS, and e-mails for winning lotteries. Zone police engaged cyber experts to impart training to investigation officials to identify fake websites and SMS, tracking criminals through IP addresses and checking crime on social media sites.
