Patna: Keeping in mind the prevalence of cold weather, the Patna district administration on Monday issued a notification, prohibiting schools from conducting academic activities before 9am and after 3.30pm till January 13. The order is meant for all private and government schools, pre-primary schools and Anganwadis.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh asked the school authorities to reschedule their academic activities to conform with the new timings. “Due to prevalent cold weather and low temperature particularly in the early morning and evening hours, the health and life of children are at risk,” the order read.
However, academic activities related to mission Daksha and Board exams will be exempted from the new timings.
Timings for government schools in Saran and Jamui districts have also been altered in view of cold weather. The government schools in these two districts have been asked to conduct academic activities for students of classes I to VIII from 10am to 3.30pm and and for classes Ix to XII from 9.30am to 4pm till January 31.
