PATNA: One Vivek Kumar alias Dheman (22) died and another person was injured after they were allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by a toddy seller in dry Bihar’s Vaishali district on Sunday evening. The accused, Dinesh Chaudhary (45), was arrested.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Saurabh Suman, said the incident occurred at Singhara Buzurg village under Mahua police station area.“Vivek and his friend Sonu alias Tuntun (22) had gone to Dinesh’s shop in the evening. Dinesh attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon after the two refused to pay for the toddy they had consumed. Vivek died on the spot while Sonu was admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital,” the SDPO added.
Tension prevailed in the area after the incident. Police later pacified the locals and took possession of Vivek’s body. The body was later sent to a hospital for autopsy.
Asked about the sale of prohibited toddy in the area, the SDPO said raids were being conducted to arrest those engaged in the illegal trade.
