Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district administration has invited suggestions from residents to improve traffic management in Jamshedpur.
The civil society can mail the suggestions to the district transport department’s email id (dto-es-jhr@nic.in) while individual/organisations can give the suggestions in writing in person to the district transport office during working days.The administration has sought ideas/suggestions by January 15.
“Each and every suggestion is important, all will be seriously studied and thereupon a report will be formulated,” said DC Manjunath Bhajantri on Sunday.
Further, the report will be discussed with the Notified Area Committees of Jamshedpur and Mango, besides Jugsalai Municipal Council (JMC) and other stakeholding departments, under the chairmanship of the DC.
Subsequently, the valuable suggestions will be incorporated in the plan for a robust road traffic management.
The district transport officer, Dhananjay, has sought detailed information from the traffic police about the accident-prone spots in the city. The DTO also sought to know the sites where speed-breaker, rumble strip, traffic signal post, and speed control signage are required.
“The data analysis of each of the road accident, which occurred in recent times, will determine the necessary steps required to check the accidents,” the DTO said.
On Saturday, the DTO chaired the meeting with the transport and traffic police officials, besides Tata Steel and Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TS UISL) representatives to work out steps to check accidents of the roads. Notably, the tragic car accident, which occurred at CH Area roundabout in Bistupur on January 1 has driven the district administration to revisit the traffic management. Eight boys were riding the car, six got killed, while two received serious injuries after the speeding car hit the divider.

In report to NGT, air panel suggests steps for polluting sectors
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has submitted a report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on major polluting sectors and corrective steps. The report includes updates on emission inventory and source apportionment studies for Delhi, Gurgaon, Gautam Budh Nagar, and Faridabad. CAQM has set a target for phasing out diesel autorickshaws, formulating a plan for common boilers, and setting up infrastructure for material recovery and disposal of end-of-life vehicles. They also plan to install low-cost sensors on construction sites and control dust pollution through the use of suppressants. The report addresses specific action plans, timelines, implementing agencies, and funds allocation.

Truck drivers in Kolkata blocked entry points to the city’s port area, protesting against the penal laws for hit-and-run cases. They are upset with the increased jail term and fine for such cases.
