Strathberry names new MD with ambitious sales target
As rapidly-expanding Strathberry targets £100 million in annual revenues, the Scottish luxury accessories brand has appointment of Martin Byrne as its new managing director to lead the charge.
The highly-experience Byrne will join the company in November, working closely with co-founders Guy and Leeanne Hundleby to drive global growth.
Byrne is currently chief commercial officer at luxury jeweller Monica Vinader. He previously held senior roles at Links of London and was managing director at Simon Harrison, which designed/produced jewellery for fashion brands including Vivienne Westwood, Karen Millen and Ted Baker.
Byrne will be tasked with expanding its global presence across e-commerce, retail and wholesale.
He joins at a time when the company has already achieved impressive gains. It recorded a 53% jump in sales for FY24 year to reach £27 million, representing a 55% compound annual growth rate since FY21, alongside a double-digit profit margin.
Its brand is sold through more than 90 outlets worldwide alongside its own standalone stores in Edinburgh and London. Success has also been fuelled by demand from North America, which saw a 90% increase in sales last year, boosted by demand for leather goods.
Additionally, the Middle East and Japan markets have also recorded strong online growth, at 143% and 61%, respectively.
The co-founders said: “Martin’s extensive experience in the luxury sector, coupled with his proven track record of driving growth, makes him the ideal candidate to help us capitalise on the numerous opportunities ahead.”
Byrne added: “Strathberry’s exceptional products and impressive recent performance speak volumes. After meeting Leeanne and Guy, it was clear to me that the brand has tremendous potential.”
