After being previewed back in January this year, the Jaecoo J7 is now open for booking. Malaysia will be the first Southeast Asian country to welcome the SUV, with deliveries set to commence in the third quarter of 2024.

For now, the company is only providing estimate pricing for the J7’s two available variants. The base front-wheel drive (2WD) option is estimated to retail at RM150,000, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) is RM10,000 more at RM160,000. Buyers will have four colours to choose from, namely Moonlight Silver, Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White and Model Green.

Both variants will feature a 1.6 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine rated at 197 PS (194 hp or 145 kW) and 290 Nm of torque, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In terms of dimensions, the J7 measures 4,500 mm long, 1,865 mm wide, 1,680 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,672 mm. That makes it about the size of a Toyota Corolla Cross while also smaller than the Mazda CX-5.

“The public’s consistent interest in anticipation of the J7, following two successful roadshows, has been very encouraging that we are so excited to begin accepting registration of interest. We believe Jaecoo Malaysia is bringing diversity to the SUV market, especially with the J7 being a strong challenger in the C-segment SUV market, which consumers in Malaysia appreciate,” said Jaecoo Malaysia president, Leo Chen.
