Jeweller Shot Dead: Fiancé of Jeweller Shot Dead by Robbers Commits Suicide | Kanpur News | Kanpur News
KANPUR: A 22-year-old woman, whose fiancé was allegedly shot dead by robbers in Kannauj district on Friday, committed suicide by hanging herself, on Monday.
On being informed, senior police officials including additional superintendent of police and circle officer reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. On Monday morning, Soni (22), daughter of Nafees Khan, resident of village Malikpur, committed suicide by hanging herself with a dupatta from the ceiling of the room.
ASP Sansar Singh and CO Sadar Kamlesh Kumar, reached the spot and supervised the investigations.Soni’s father Nafees said that at the time of the incident he had gone to the fields, while other family members were sitting in front of a bonfire near the house. He said that his daughter Soni’s engagement ceremony took place on December 17, 2023. “She was to get married to Ayaz, a jeweller by profession and resident of Mohalla Dara Sarai of Samdhan town. However on Friday, two bike-borne miscreants shot Ayaz dead when he protested against a robbery. The incident happened while Ayaz, after closing the shop, was returning home on bike with his father and younger brother, when two armed miscreants shot him and looted jewellery and cash worth Rs 20 lakh,” he said.
Ayaz’s father and brother took him to Gursahaiganj CHC. Seeing his critical condition, the doctor referred him to Kanpur.
However, he was declared dead at Kanpur’s Regency Hospital, he added. He further said that after the incident, Soni started remaining aloof and on Monday morning committed suicide by hanging herself. ASP Sansar Singh said, “The girl’s body has been sent for postmortem. Meanwhile, raids are underway to nab the jewellers’ murderers.”
