Hyderabad: Rigid plastic packaging player Mold-Tek Packaging Ltd is investing Rs 120 crore in expanding capacities by 5,500 metric tonnes per annum (MTA) for manufacturing injection molded products for the paints, food, FMCG and pharma sectors.
As part of this, the company has already expanded its Sultanpur facility in Telangana as part of its foray into high value-added pharma packaging and has commenced trial production, Mold-Tek Packaging chairman & MD J Lakshmana Rao said.
It will be manufacturing tubes for effervescent tablets, silica gel canisters and molded bottles for OTC products for exports (50%) as well as domestic markets at Sultanpur.
The Hyderabad-based listed company has also commenced trial production at two greenfield manufacturing facilities set up at Panipat in Haryana and Cheyyar in Tamil Nadu for manufacturing pails for paints as well as square food boxes and containers for edible oils and other products.
The company is also planning a greenfield plant at Mahad in Mahatrashtra where it has acquired land for setting up a 1,500 MTA manufacturing facility at an investment of Rs 20 crore for pail supplies to Grasim Industries by October 2024, he explained.
“These three units will go into commercial production within the next few weeks. Once the fourth unit is also up and running, Mold-Tek’s total capacity will go up to 54,000 MTA by financial year 2024-25,” he said.
