Coimbatore: These five Cs – Critical thinking, Curiosity, Creativity, Cooperation, and Communication – are essential for the employability of every student irrespective of their stream, former DGP Sylendra Babu said.
Speaking at an interactive session with the students of Dr G R Damodaran College of Science in the city on Monday, Sylendra Babu said, “To win, you must first fail.”
“Without failure, success means mundane, and your experiences are too little.Only when you fail your problem-solving skills will enhance,” he said.
Later, speaking to TOI, the former DGP said, “Tamil Nadu police will continue to be the best for the next 30 years.”
“Policemen never retire, and their spirits are always active. Every officer is interested and talented in some skills like teaching, coaching and sports. Despite having such skills, many officers struggle post-retirement,” he said.
“I have a suggestion for the welfare of every officer, who is on the verge of retirement with five more years left. It would be great if the government allocates special sessions to identify their interests and train them accordingly for a life post-retirement. I will submit a proposal to the commissioner for the same,” he added.
The state government has introduced initiatives like yoga, meditation, counselling, and a mandated weekly off for police personnel to manage their stress, he added.
