Pune: The proposed standard operating procedure (SOP) by Savitribai Phule Pune University for student union’s agitations, and staff and teachers’ demands was shelved in the meeting on Monday.
Vice-chancellor of SPPU Suresh Gosavi said, “We will emphasize on solving problems through coordination and discussion.”
On behalf of Student Helping Hands, activist Kuldeep Ambekar said, “We told the university administration that police interference in the university’s functioning should not be there.”
In November, a meeting between Pune police commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, Gosavi, pro-vice chancellor Parag Kalkar, and representatives of students’ organisations was held to discuss growing instances of on campus violence, which led to an FIR against students.
