Rainfall: Record Rainfall in Old Mysuru Region: Impact on Agriculture and Farmers | Mysuru News

Mysuru: Most parts of the Old Mysuru region recorded good rainfall. Coffee and arecanut growers, who are involved in the post-harvesting activities, were affected by the unseasonal rainfall. In Mysuru, Hassan, and surrounding areas farmers welcomed this rain.
According to the data by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, in 24 hours starting from 8.30am on Saturday, Agrahara village in Arkalgud taluk in Hassan district recorded the highest rainfall of 134.5 mm.Second highest rainfall of 115.5 mm was reported from Chikkahalli village in Arkalgud taluk.
In Mysuru city, heavy rainfall has been reported in the early hours of Sunday. However, no rain-related incidents were reported.
Madikeri and Santhahalli, in Kodagu district, recorded 40 mm rainfall. Similarly, sporadic rain was recorded from most parts of the Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga districts. Kikkeri in Mandya district recorded 19 mm rainfall while B Matakere village in Mysuru recorded 13.7 mm rainfall.
Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha leaders Vidyasagar TR and Hosuru Kumar, said the rain is not harmful for the farmers in any way as the harvesting of the paddy has concluded. 90% of the horse gram harvesting is also completed, said Vidyasagar.
Meanwhile, cloudy weather continued even on Sunday. Light spell of rain was reported from several parts of Hunsur and Periyapatna taluks.

The coordination between the state and the Centre was evident through the presence of National Disaster Relief Force personnel in the field.
