Mysuru: Members of the South Western Railway Mansoor Union launched a hunger strike demanding for the restoration of old pension scheme in front of SWR divisional office, here on Monday. The protesters, who applied for leave in mass, staged a protest demanding for the abolition of the new pension scheme launched in 2004 and urged the Union Railway ministry to intervene in the issue.
The hunger strike is being led by South Western Railway Mansoor Union secretary Yathiraj in which hundreds of employees are taking part. Shouting slogans against the Union government, the employees threatened to intensify the protest if the new pension scheme was not abolished. tnn
