Night Shelters: Set up night shelters in Patna for relief from cold weather | Patna News
Patna: The number of people seeking night shelter to protect themselves from the shivering cold in the city crossed 12,000 on Monday. Taking note of the prevailing weather condition, DM Chandrashekhar Singh on Monday asked the block officials to set up similar shelter homes in their areas to provide relief to people, mostly destitute and poor.
He asked the SDOs of all sub-divisions to monitor facilities at the night shelters, distribution of blankets and arrangement of bonfires at important public places.Over 4,600 blankets were made available for distribution. Patna Municipal Corporation has set up 21 night shelters in the city area. Four night shelters for women are also running in the city.
The district administration has provided all basic facilities like carpets, blankets, covers, tables, chairs, drinking water and CCTV cameras at the night shelters. A feedback register has also been kept in each night shelter for gathering people’s opinions.
The DM said bonfires have been arranged at 189 places in the city. He urged the people to follow the health advisory issued by the district administration in view of the biting cold.
