Mysuru: Kannada activist and Sharana Sahitya Parishat chief Ma Gu Sadanandaiah on Sunday criticised the Mysuru district administration for neglecting Kannada and violating the state government’s norms concerning Kannada language in the Mysuru Fest logo.
Speaking here, he alleged that prominence had been given to the English language, while designing the logo and demanded the district administration to reconsider the logo design, giving more prominence to the Kannada language.
About 70% importance has been given to the English language, while Kannada has been restricted to 30%. The district administration should have instructed the designers regarding the issue, he added.
Sadanandaiah, who has served as deputy director of Kannada and culture, also took exceptions over the name boards installed in various localities. He said that the door numbers, which were mentioned previously, had vanished, giving prominence only to the names of politicians and added that Mysuru City Corporation and Muda must look into the matter.

Purple Fest: Sign language help at hand
Forty sign language interpreters are in Goa for the International Purple Fest, which includes a two-day convention on Global Echoes Advancing Sign Language Interpreting in Deaf Education. The seminar addresses challenges faced by people with disabilities. Efforts are on to bring educational facilities for sign language interpreters to Goa. The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Speech and Hearing Disabilities, in collaboration with the Indian Sign Language Interpreters Association, is hosting the conference. The conference focuses on accessibility, mental health, well-being, and various activities like panel discussions, exhibitions, bird walks, and swimming.

The absence of these safety measures has led to accidents and deaths. Despite demands and instructions from officials, the NHAI has not taken the issue seriously. Drain works are also progressing slowly, and miscreants have taken advantage of incomplete works, causing the disappearance of metal barricades and solar panels in the Mandya region.
