Jain, who faces a gang rape and POCSO case, was issued the summons by ED for alleged money laundering in a sextortion matter.Video clips purportedly showing Jain in a compromising position with a woman surfaced on the social media on Friday, prompting Congress to suspend him for the party’s primary membership.
“We had issued summons to him on January 3. Since he has neither turned up nor given a reply, we plan to issue fresh summons soon,” said an ED officer on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, the former Congress MLA was issued summons during the assembly elections, following which he had approached the Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan High Court. The HC had asked ED to issue Jain summons after the elections.
ED officials said they are investigating if the ex-MLA indulged in money laundering in the sextortion case.
