Mauni Mata: Mauni Mata to Utter ‘Ram’ After 30 Years: Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration | Ranchi News
Dhanbad: Saraswati Devi (85) alias Mauni Mata is likely to break her silence (maun) after over 30 years on January 22 with the word “Ram” after inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
Devi’s son Hari Ram Agrawal said his mother is a close associate of Mahant Nitya Gopal Das, the head priest of the Ayodhya temple, and she has received an invitation to attend the inaugural ceremony of the temple from the organisers.“She is leaving Dhanbad for Ayodhya on Monday night,” Hari Ram said.
He said his mother used to talk for an hour a day initially but after the 1992 police action on kar sevaks, she took a vow that she would speak only when a Ram temple is built in Ayodhya on the instructions from her spiritual guru Nitya Gopal Das.
“We have built ashrams for her both at Ayodhya and Mathura where she used to live for years,” Hari Ram informed, saying his mother has been living with them for some years because of her old age. She takes only one meal a day and keeps reading the Ramayan the whole day. She passes instructions to the family members in writing, he added.
Saraswati has visited almost all prominent Hindu pilgrimage sites while observing silence in the last 30 years and always keeps a notebook and a pen with her to seek help from others during her travel, said Nand Lal Agrawal, her elder son and the GM (estate) of BCCL.
