My goodness, the time certainly does fly. It’s apparently been seven full years since Fire Emblem Heroes (Free) released on mobile platforms, bringing some bite-sized strategy fun to players everywhere and a whole lot of revenue to Nintendo’s pockets. It was a very different time in those months before the Nintendo Switch released, but if everything else seemed uncertain, Fire Emblem at least appeared to have a firm future. So how does Nintendo’s most successful mobile release celebrate its seventh? Let’s find out!

It’s been about a year since the last mainline entry in the Fire Emblem series arrived in the form of Fire Emblem Engage, and while we’ve seen plenty of characters from that game, we’re just now getting one of its major features represented in Fire Emblem Heroes. The new Emblem Heroes can, as in Fire Emblem Engage, engage with other heroes to give them special enhancements to both their special and their stats. The first one to join this game is, suitably, Marth: Of Beginnings. Also from Engage, Alear’s mommy Lumera joins the game as a light-type mythic hero. Don’t be weird about it! Too late. Oh well.

In terms of anniversary rewards, you can get plenty of orbs and other goodies by logging in and doing quests from now until March 4th. A special Hero Fest summoning focus is running that will give you a good chance at getting some top-tier heroes for your team. There’s also a five star Special Hero guaranteed summon to ensure you get a treat even if you can’t afford to keep rolling the gatcha. There’s also a guaranteed four star special hero summon, but that feels less special after I already told you about the five star one. Oh well! There are also some special maps that you can clear to earn a bunch of orbs and summon tickets.

That’s pretty much it, but that’s not a bad haul for an anniversary. Fire Emblem Heroes keeps on getting new content even this far down the road, outlasting even Mario Kart in that regard. If you dropped the game and were thinking about getting back to it, now is as good a time as any to get into it. And if you’re still playing… well, this is probably already old news to you. Enjoy the rewards, I guess? Are you still playing Fire Emblem Heroes? Do you have any thoughts about the anniversary, or how rapidly the years seem to fly by? Let us know your Fire Emblem and/or existential dread thoughts down in the comments section, if you’re that-way inclined.
