Family Dispute Resolution Centre: 2nd family dispute resolution centre inaugurated in Noida | Noida News

Noida: The district opens its second family dispute redressal centre at the Sector 108 police commissionerate on Monday in collaboration with Amity University. The clinic, which will be open five days a week, will provide a specialised team of psychologists and legal assistance for family disputes.
Laxmi Singh, the police commissioner, said, “Counselling and mediation will be assisted by experts in law, psychology and allied sciences, as well as research scholars from the centre for guidance and counselling at Amity University.”
The clinic offers professional support in dealing with sensitive cases of dowry harassment and domestic violence, in contrast to how police deal with such cases.“Since cops do not get the opportunity to widen their horizon, they are unable to understand the psyche of victims. There is a need for victim-centric and trauma-centric policing,” Singh added.
She highlighted that the Supreme Court has also mandated that cases related to dowry harassment and domestic violence must be mediated, and only after mediation or counselling fails three consecutive times, must police opt for coercive action. Hence, the women and child safety cell of the Noida police and Amity University signed the memorandum of understanding to set up the clinic.
