Rajkot: Two brothers were booked for allegedly encroaching upon government land and building a two-storey house on Bedi Bandar Road in Jamnagar city. A complaint was lodged against Imtiaz Saicha and Sikandar by the circle officer of the district collectorate, Hitesh Jadav. It is alleged that the brothers encroached about 1,000 sq foot to 1,2000 sq foot land to build a house where they stayed in a joint family.They were booked under the sections of Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act. tnn

Harassed for acting against encroachers
A deputy conservator of forests in Hyderabad has alleged harassment from higher officials for cracking down on encroachers. He has been transferred multiple times under political pressure. The new Congress government is urged to protect sincere officers. The officer has faced victimization by the previous government, as they have been prevented from taking action against forest encroachment. Public representatives have failed to support the officer and instead encourage illegal acts.
Ex-SHO among 18 booked for fake FIRs to grab land
An FIR was registered in Agra against 18 people, including the ex-SHO of Jagdishpura, Jitendra Kumar, for attempting to grab land worth over Rs 20 crore and filing fake FIRs that led to the imprisonment of five innocent people. Four policemen were suspended following a complaint. A special investigation team has been constituted. The FIR named Kamal Chaudhary and Dheeru Chaudhary as the ‘land mafia’. Ravi Kushwaha, who lived on the land as a caretaker, was sent to jail in fake cases.
